I understand the reasoning behind it, and somewhat agree. The problem that arises is when someone makes the incorrect assumption that anonymous person A is also anonymous person B, or... when anonymous person A decides to use the name of someone who is readily recognized by the majority of users. What's to stop me from posting as Orb saying "Ya know, I was completely wrong." Sure, he would probably come back and say that wasn't him, but the only 'proof' would be that the IP addresses making the posts were different. I could claim he changed his IP by using his neighbors unsecured wireless router.
You guys can keep it anonymous if you want... but you can't accuse people of subterfuge at the same time. My only 'proof' is that I post under the same name each time in these recent threads. I've posted under others in other threads, but I believe all in the same realm as John.. johnw, etc.
Btw, you can have anonymous posting in a registered environment as well.
